Wikipedia! On your iPod!

I'll openly admit that I am a compulsive Wikipedia user. The self-proclaimed "free encyclopedia that anyone can edit" is extensive, thorough, and addictive. Who hasn't spent hours poring over its in-depth analyses of Scientology, anarcho-capitalism, and the Franco-Prussian War? Good news for those of you who have -- now, you can carry Wikipedia's enormous knowledge base in your back pocket.

Encyclopodia, an open-source project apparently based on iPod linux, combines the massive borg-mind we call Wikipedia with the ubiquitous iPod that every hip American is now legally required to carry. Although text entry is a pain with the scroll wheel -- reminiscent of entering high scores on Mortal Kombat by scrolling through the alphabet -- carrying Wikipedia in your pocket comes in handy all the time, whether to settle bets, look up obscure references, or just kill some time browsing the cluttered annals of human knowledge. And it's a great conversation starter. "Look! I've got Wikipedia on my iPod running linux!" is sure to win friends and influence people every time. Check it out here.
